B i o g r a p h y
Hannah Peterson holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She was recently appointed 3rd flute/piccolo of the Des Moines Symphony (beginning Fall 2020), and currently serves as 2nd flute in Orchestra Iowa and 3rd flute/piccolo in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Peterson also performs frequently with the South Dakota Symphony and the Minnesota Opera Orchestra. In 2018 she won first prize in the Upper Midwest Flute Association Young Artist Competition.
As an advocate for new music and challenging audience expectations of a classical concert experience, Hannah has premiered pieces by notable composers including Jennifer Higdon, Dana Wilson, and Michael Daugherty, as well as works by young composers through the American Composers Forum Next Notes program. Ms. Peterson is a founding member of Skal Chamber Collective. She has performed recitals live on air on Minnesota Public Radio and on the Schubert Club's Courtroom Concert Series.
Hannah is an active performer and teacher in the Twin Cities. In addition to teaching private flute lessons in Saint Paul, she has also worked as a Woodwind Section Coach and Teaching Artist as a member of Orchestra Iowa, Minnesota Public Radio's Classnotes Artist program, and Chione Wind Quintet.
Previously, Hannah has participated in Minnesota Public Radio's Classnotes Teaching Artist program, been a member of Chione Wind Quintet, and performed with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and the Mankato Symphony Orchestra.
